Portrait Painter Internet Marketing Case Study

Our Specialties

I need a site that can be my portfolio.

Client spoke to me about getting back into online marketing and creating a website that did more than just held a porfolio. He wanted to engage in new marketing tactics and revitalize his look and image in order to compete with local opposition.

Image Optimization and Visually Focused

We didn’t want to approach this like we would any other website with a text-focus. After collaborating with the client on multiple designs, we decided to emphasize images and videos over text except when necessary.

In order to handle the load of a video and image intensive website on a modest server, we utilized optimized images and Media-CDN’s in order to help decrease the page load speed without compromising the quality and detail of the art.

Print Marketing

The client also attends numerous trade shows and didn’t want to stick to the standard fare of business cards. So we agreed on 5×7 postcards which featured pieces of art the painter created.

The postcard to the right is a close mock-up of the final product, swapping out the clients art and personal information with placeholders.

The postcards were presented on 16pt paper instead of 14pt so that the rigidity lent itself to higher quality and we went with a UV foil on the front and matte on the back to help presentation.

Additionally, since we wanted them to change hands frequently, we made a design with a little bit of thumb space for the portrait that both matched the final artpiece and the different types of expos he might attend.
